Explore the latest updates and highlights from Esperanza’s Hispanic Youth Leadership Program, showcasing the impactful experiences and opportunities that are empowering the next generation of leaders in our community.
In January, students actively participated in workforce development, leadership opportunities, and college exploration activities. Kicking off the new year, they also focused on setting ambitious academic and personal goals for the months ahead. Through interactive workshops, they gained practical skills tailored to today’s job market while developing leadership qualities that empower them to take initiative and create positive change within their communities.
To celebrate their dedication and commitment, students in Esperanza’s Hispanic Youth Leadership Program enjoyed a fun and well-deserved bowling trip. The outing provided a chance for students to bond, relax, and build lasting memories outside the classroom. Experiences like these remind students that hard work and perseverance come with meaningful rewards.
In collaboration with Tri-C, Esperanza students from the Escalera program at Natividad Pagan International Newcomers Academy explored various certificate and degree programs available at the college. During the visit, they engaged in discussions about the importance of higher education and gained valuable insights into scholarships, admission requirements, tuition costs, and other academic opportunities. This experience helped students envision their pathways to success and reinforced the role of education in achieving their goals.
UnidosUS affiliates from across the nation came together to exchange insights, share innovative ideas, and collaborate on solutions to address challenges in education. Team members from across Esperanza’s various programs participated in the event, contributing their unique perspectives and expertise. They were thrilled to connect with peers from around the country and bring back valuable ideas to enhance their work.
Through Esperanza’s afterschool programs, students receive ongoing tutoring and homework support to help them improve their grades and stay on track for promotion and graduation. These programs provide a supportive environment where students can build their academic confidence, develop strong study habits, and achieve their educational goals.
Students are participating in STEM-based workshops in partnership with Intersect STEM, where they explore science, technology, engineering, and math through hands-on activities. These workshops foster creativity, problem-solving, and critical thinking, while also introducing students to potential STEM career paths.
Esperanza’s new President & CEO, Margaret D. Sanchez, visited the Youth Programs to connect with students and coordinators while gaining a deeper understanding of the program sites and initiatives. Her visit highlighted her commitment to engaging with the community and supporting the growth of Esperanza’s impactful programs.
