Academics & Tutoring

Tutoring is a service offered to students who are active participants in any of the other Esperanza youth programs. Tutoring is done in small group sessions after school or through one-on-one tutor sessions in which a student is matched with volunteer university students or with an adult who is highly experienced in a specific subject area.

In partnership with the Cleveland Municipal School District, access to our students' grade and test performance data in school helps us to quickly identify and support student needs and better ensure their academic success.

Helping Hispanic students excel in their academic achievements:

To help get you excited about these offerings, here are just a few of the benefits of utilizing a tutor:

Improved academic performance. Tutoring can help children improve their grades in specific subjects, as well as their overall academic performance. This is because tutors can provide individualized attention and instruction, which can help children identify and address their learning gaps.

Increased confidence. It can also help children build their confidence in their academic abilities. This is because tutors can provide positive reinforcement and encouragement, which can help children feel more capable and successful in school.

Developed study skills. Tutoring can help children develop good study habits, such as time management, note-taking, and test-taking strategies. These skills can help children succeed in school and beyond.

Improved problem-solving skills. A great tutor can help children develop their problem-solving skills. This is because tutors can help children learn how to break down complex problems into smaller, more manageable steps.

Increased motivation. It also helps children become more motivated to learn. This is because tutors can make learning fun and engaging, which can help children stay interested in their schoolwork.

Better relationships with teachers. This type of education can help children build better relationships with their teachers. This is because tutors can help children understand the expectations of their teachers and how to meet those expectations.

Early intervention. Tutoring can help children who are struggling academically early on. This can help prevent these problems from becoming more serious down the road.

In addition to these benefits, tutoring can also help children develop a love of learning, which can benefit them throughout their lives.
