Esperanza has been recognized for their innovation and success by two national Hispanic organizations, UnidosUS (formerly NCLR) and Excelencia in Education.
In early August, Esperanza was awarded Midwest Affiliate of the Year at the 2019 UnidosUS Annual Conference in San Diego. The award is the highest honor bestowed on a UnidosUS Affiliate, which includes nearly 300 community-based organizations, for our exemplary work in serving our community and providing a diverse range of services. Esperanza was also named one of the 2019 Excelencia in Education Programs to Watch, a national effort to bring attention to evidence-based practices that work for Latino students in higher education. We were selected from 166 nominated programs from 32 states, Washington D.C. and Puerto Rico. Our organization and our comprehensive Post-secondary Support Program, which includes Lideres Avanzando, mentoring, scholarships and internships, will be featured by Excelencia throughout the year as a best practice to help other organizations across the country implement successful programs. Our Esperanza team works tirelessly to develop the very best programs and opportunities for Cleveland’s Hispanic students, so it is rewarding to see those efforts recognized as among the nation’s best. We are grateful for your continued support and participation – our community partners are central to the work we do.
