Dear Friends,
It has been an honor for nearly 15 years to serve as Esperanza’s leader guiding our organization through a time of monumental growth. I am proud of Esperanza’s success in ensuring our students and families flourish through education and am excited for the future as our organization strives to reach learners of all ages throughout our region. Therefore, it is with mixed emotions I share with you my decision to step down as President and CEO.
This last year as we honored Esperanza’s growth and achievements throughout our 40-year history, I found myself contemplating what is best for both my future professional development and the future of our organization. As we look to Esperanza’s next 40 years, I – in collaboration with the board – determined now is the time to introduce a fresh perspective and new ideas to lead the way toward Esperanza’s next chapter.
Since the beginning of the year, the board and I have been working together to develop a seamless transition plan and to identify the experience and qualifications necessary for Esperanza’s next leader. Pam Hobe, current Esperanza board chair, and Carmen Castro Rivera, former board chair and longtime board member, are leading the transition.
To assist with selection of Esperanza’s next President and CEO, the board has hired Koya Partners, an executive search firm with an exclusive focus on recruiting CEO’s and senior leaders for mission-driven roles. We will keep you updated throughout this process.
We are blessed with a dedicated and talented management team and staff who work tirelessly to further our mission to equip students and families for lifelong success. They are on the front lines every day working to ensure our students have the support and resources they need for academic achievement. We are confident this team will provide the continuity and experience to allow Esperanza to continue to grow and support an even greater population.
It has been an honor and a privilege to serve our community and I am grateful for the trusted support of our team, board, community and business leaders, and supporters like you who enable us to transform the lives of thousands of Northeast Ohio Hispanic families.
Sincerely,
Victor Ruiz
President/CEO
